My inspiration in creating this piece was bodies, pieces and parts of being human. Memory and Mammory. This piece was created as part of a show in San Francisco called Di-ssec-tion exploring the internal verses the external.
My name is Katie Kaapcke. I am a Vango artist. I am an inter- disciplinary artist and illustrator. My work primarily explores queerness while critiquing the archetypal models of gender, sexuality, fluidity and body presentation. I work with pen, ink, pencil, watercolor, gouache, collage, and paper. In my practice as a graphic storyteller, I use personal experience as a queer, genderqueer, visually female presenting, and aspiring androgyne, to carve out space for a marginalized voice. I want to preserve our stories for future generations. As a visual artist I seek to create my own magical, thought provoking, sexually fluid, wonderland with my paintings. Thank you for visiting my portfolio!
