A Saguaro Cactus is the focus against this red hot desert background. Prickly needles poke out of the cactus's arms with a solitary pink bloom on top. I started out painting this as an abstract. When it was completed, the vivid reds, yellows and oranges reminded me of blazing heat; the white as something white hot. This was my inspiration. What else but a cactus would be appropriate to paint in the midst. The title "Cactus Heat" simply comes from the subject matter. Painted with premium acrylic paints, layered on a wrap around stretched canvas with staple free sides. Painted around the edges for a finished look. Protected with 2 coats of Liquitex satin varnish.

I acquired a fascination with art at an early age. Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, as a child, I received numerous awards and merits including a scholarship to attend art classes at the Brooklyn Museum of Art. My work was displayed at The World’s Fair in Flushing, New York and was shipped to Japan for a special exhibition at an elementary school. I hold a degree in Fine Art and Illustration from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York. After graduating from FIT, I moved to beautiful Southern California to work as a freelance illustrator for well-known magazine companies such as SEA Magazine and ROAD & TRACK. Later on, I accepted the position as Assistant Art Director for BIARRITZ Magazine which featured my unique illustrations. Based in Anaheim, California, I currently enjoy being a full time artist creating commissions for clients in a variety of media. I work in charcoal, pastel, pen and ink as well as acrylic and oil paint.
