"Meeting for a Drink" depicts different animal species coming together at a waterhole. My painting technique breaks down all elements of the composition - animals, water, and earth - into visible strokes of paint, much as all matter can be viewed as a collection of atoms. "Meeting for a Drink" was selected for "Embracing Our Differences", a juried outdoor billboard exhibition at Island Park, Sarasota, FL, April-May 2012. The painting was one of 39 to be included in the show from over 2,300 entries received from 48 countries and 38 states. The mission of Embracing Our Differences® is to use art as a catalyst for creating awareness and promoting, throughout our community, the value of diversity, the benefits of inclusion and the significance of the active rejection of hatred and prejudice. The painting was also selected for exhibition in "Call of the Wild" at Anderson Chase Gallery, Katonah, NY
I grew up in rural Ohio. While earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts in drawing and painting at The Ohio State University, I was awarded a Ford Foundation Grant. I then moved to NYC to attend New York University, spent a semester abroad in Venice, Italy and earned a Master’s degree in studio art. The New York metropolitan area has been my home ever since. I now live and work in Yonkers with my husband John, who provides invaluable support, advice, and carpentry skills.
