I find that to record the movement and fidgety nature of birds that drawing works well. I chose charcoal as the dust allows me to play with an atmospheric rendering of the bird's movement. It's deep black color is perfect for a crow. The white highlighlights are done with conté crayon. The drawing was done on gray paper. I grew up in rural Ohio. While earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts in drawing and painting at The Ohio State University, I was awarded a Ford Foundation Grant. I then moved to NYC to attend New York University, spent a semester abroad in Venice, Italy and earned a Master’s degree in studio art. The New York metropolitan area has been my home ever since. I now live and work in Yonkers with my husband John, who provides invaluable support, advice, and carpentry skills.
