Curator's Note: The neon coloring coloring reminds us of the fluorescent lights of a flashing city, penetrating the dark even from a far distance.
This is an original screen print on paper, very limited edition size of 14. It is signed, titled and numbered on front of print.
My fluorescent NYC print inspired me to create a series of bright, night cityscapes. Having just moved to Dallas, I decided that it would be my next subject. A Dallas native referred to Dallas as the "emerald city" to me once and it stuck with me. Dallas' famous landmark, Reunion Tower, has been giving a "diamond dust" (crushed glass) application and shimmers when the light hits it, or as you walk past the print! The image comes from a photograph which I took on the top of the ferris wheel at the Texas state Fair.
Due to the nature of the screen printing process, buyers should note that prints may vary slightly from that shown on screen. This does mean that each print in the edition is unique and each print is printed by hand.
My practice is focused on screen printing techniques and my work is fueled by an interest in the identity of place. I aim to provide a unique perception and understanding and offer a composite of real and imagined places. I am an award winning artist currently living in North Texas, USA. I received my Bachelor of Fine Art degree in 2007, concentrating in Graphic Design, at C.W. Post College/Long Island University, in New York. From 2009-2011 I studied at The School of Visual Arts’ Continuing Education program in New York City until I moved to London to develop my printmaking practice full time. In 2012 I received a Masters degree with Merit at Camberwell College of Art/University of the Arts London in printmaking. In 2013 I was granted a month long printmaking Artist Residency at the Women’s Studio Workshop in New York, USA. My work has been exhibited regularly in London, at Art Fairs and exhibitions, and is currently exhibited in Hong Kong, London and the United States.
