This painting depicts a scene during very early spring in Bethpage State Park on Long Island. Spring foliage had not yet quite appeared, but the angle of the sun had clearly changed, leading to the effect of the shadows on the ground of the bare trees. Thanks for looking!
I have always loved to paint. Although I opted to pursue a career as a clinical psychologist, my love of/involvement in visual arts has never dulled. Nature provides endless inspiration for me. To me, nature in all forms offers a peek at the universal formula of physics and biology, but can be simultaneously emotionally evocative and poetic. It is predictable and orderly but also moody and mysterious. I try to render landscapes and scenery in a way that reflects the juxtaposition of science and human examination of it. Thanks for looking!
