This piece was a still life study in natural elements. I worked with a tortoise shell, known throughout many Native American cultures to be representative of longevity. I also worked with a shard of Citrine, a crystal symbolizing in abundance. Finally I worked with both polished and geode forms of Amethyst, long known to be a stone of intelligence.
Hey, I'm Kat Thompson, or Katastrophi. I've been working with different mediums of art for the majority of my life (my dad drilled the color wheel to the tertiary colors into my brain when I was three). I mostly work with paint (Primarily Acrylic with bits of oil and watercolor here and there), but also enjoy tapping into charcoal and ink from time to time. I've mostly freelanced throughout my adult career, and while I continue to do that as much as possible, I also work in Advertising. I have a degree in Arts Management and Studio Art from Randolph-Macon College, located in Ashland, Virginia. I pull a lot of cultural and natural influences for my work, and mainly enjoy focusing on figure studies. Thanks for checking me out!
