Ready to Hang
This is an acrylic on board, abstract painting of feathers and circles. I have used a medium to create visual texture. As a photographer I love to play with the light that filters through objects and creates circles of colored light. This image is a result of playing with the idea of this photographic effect.
I prepare my boards to be of archival quality. The sides and back are painted black and the back is wired and ready to hang without a frame.
I am inspired by the beauty that I find in nature. As the flowers bloom I begin to fill my days with capturing their beauty through my camera lens. I then use my photos as inspiration for my acrylic and digital paintings. I am finding that I prefer to play with creating a sense of abstract whimsy in my art more than I prefer trying to create reality. I love the feel of paint on my brushes and then exploring the blending of the colors together.
Over the past 18 years that I have dedicated myself to pursuing a career in art I have tried many different mediums and continue to play with many. Currently, besides photography, I am painting in acrylics, but as I am always pushing myself to have fun and try new things I plan to spend more time with watercolor in an illustrative manner. I like being able to be free to wander to different mediums as I consider myself a lifelong learner.
