Curator's Note: The incredible texture comes directly from the artist's unique technique detailed below.
I created this piece by using an airbrush to blow a mix of pouring medium and acrylic paint around the canvas. I like the idea of pushing paint and marrying colors with air flow. Mesh and sponges were used to incorporate more patterns and texture. The sides of this piece are streaked with molding paste and a blend of colors and medium blown over the edge with the air tool.
This piece is like a bird's eye glimpse of rushing blue rapids, whitewater foam and fury. Each time I look at this piece, though, it tells me another story. Perhaps its the terrain of undiscovered planet? A slice of geologic treasure?
This piece has a glossy finish.
(please share more about the story of this piece)
I create art as a release, as a vehicle for all the emotions and thoughts that are relevant but don't quite have a place in my common-sense, everyday life. Art allows me to address the irrational, add and subtract colors, work at the pace of ideas, and communicate in the unspoken language of art.
