The Convicted is a series of portraits based off of mugshots collected from various sources on the web. Each painting blends elements of realism with techniques influenced by vintage commercial art such as military propaganda posters or children's storybooks, to create a unique contemporary pop art aesthetic.
Rockabilly Prison Star's subtitle comes from his vintage slicked back hairstyle, and the prominence of his facial features, making him a popular companion among the prison inmates. Splashes of blushing red accentuate his pouting expression and his somber, sensitive blue aura, further suggesting a meager acceptance of his role in the unique social hierarchy of prison culture.
