The Stateshifter collection is a series of paintings rendered in a more frenetic pattern, in an attempt to capture or express the radical or drastic nature of a shifting mood.

This particular piece is the most impulsive of the all the ones created so far in the series. I balance a celebration of color with an ambiguously stoic expression and an almost 'whitewashed,' face. While the man is of Asian origin, I made certain to use a face that did not resemble mine, as it is less a portrait of myself as it as a portrait of a common experience among the Asian-Americans growing up as minorities.
