Originally an unfinished study for my Experimental Portraiture collection, this painting became an originating point for an evolution of my style and technique that further explores the disruption of perception through a formal study of the medium of painting. As usual, I look to expressionism and surrealism for inspiration in rendering a portrait in a manner that reflects the complexity of perception when filtered through a mental complication such as trauma, anxiety, desire or fear.
