Ready to Hang

PEACE II is the second in my PEACE searies. I have always been drawn to symbols of love and peace and thoroughly enjoy making them into beautiful pieces of art that make a statement in your home or office. This piece of art is a 30" x 30" Acrylic and mixed medium. I used tissue paper and molding paste to add texture and interest. The background has dozens of layers of color that create a somewhat patina finish. Grungy yet hip. Turquoise and pale blue layered with cool and warm whites comprise the background. There are peeks of turquoise, red and yellow in the black and very dark blue peace symbol. The sides are "loosely" painted black to fit with the weathered look of the piece. It is ready to hang in your personal collection! You will receive a certificate of authenticity along with the painting which is signed on the front and signed and dated on the back.

Joy Pesaturo, Artist As a child growing up in the San Juan Islands of Washington State, I was always drawn to the beautiful colors that surrounded me. Brilliant blue skies and water, green grass and trees, bright yellow dandelions, orange salmonberries, and the brilliant flowers that my mother grew in our garden. I would have happily spent all my time coloring and drawing. Later in High School I was fortunate to receive my first formal training in art. Painting quickly became my forte. I placed in a few local and state competitions and the thoughts of a career in Art were brought to my attention for the first time. Sadly, my mother was very ill with cancer, and passed away in December of my senior year. Art School dreams seemed frivolous at the time, so I followed a different path. After years without a paint brush or palette, my husband encouraged me to try again. He claims not to regret it but being married to an artist is a sacrifice to say the least! A large portion of our home goes to my studio which seems to keep growing. There are dozens of paintings leaning against walls throughout our home. I am currently blessed to be working as an active artist. I have chosen to sell my works via the online galleries, VANGO and SAATCHI. This has been a great venue for my art being that I live in a rural area of our beautiful country. My art has been purchased for private collections all over the US, Canada, and Puerto Rico. I am also currently teaching art to elementary students. I LOVE creating new and interesting lessons for my students and teaching them about the art of lesser known artists both current and past.
