Ready to Hang
This piece was inspired by photographs of Alaska salmon and the amazing transformation that they go through on their way to their birthplace and spawning ground. From strong silver fish to bright red, orange and green as they make their way up the river. The painting was created by layering dozens of coats of transparent acrylic paint in blues and greens over a red canvas. The transparent colors were poured and blended to give an abstract impression of the fish. It is a stunning original piece of art to add to your collection. The sides of the painting are painted and the piece is ready to hang. It has been given several coats of gloss varnish throughout the process that will protect it for years to come.
I grew up in the San Juan islands of Washington State. Surrounded by a rich art culture, I developed a love for painting. Both self taught and informally educated, I primarily work in acrylic but from time to time you might find a watercolor or mixed medium piece. My works are not currently shown in a brick and mortar gallery, I have preferred to sell pieces through referral. When I discovered the Vango platform, I was thrilled. It seems to be a perfect venue to share my pieces with those looking for an original piece of art to bejewell their home or office. Artworks are like flowers, we should surround ourselves with them as they bring us joy. Bright and abstract makes me the happiest, so I hope that you will find a piece that can bring a smile to your face each time you pass it by. My art now hangs in private collections all over the US in cities such as New York, LA, Washington DC, Boston, Austin, Denver and San Juan Puerto Rico.
