COLLAGE IN BLUE made a long journey to completion. I worked on it on and off for over a year. As I look at this piece, if feels representational of a rainy day at the beach. It began as something completely different and ended up an urban collage. The colors are shades of denim. I used moulding paste to cover the canvas and create a concrete like texture. I then added jute twine for a linear, horizontal component. Very minute hints of gold, red oxide and turquoise exist in the crevises around the twine. This piece would be at home in an urban loft, beach house or a suburban home with great style. The piece is signed on the back, and a certificate of authenticity will accompany it. The sides were left in their natural state which ended up being a gold undercoat with washes of transparent blue that give it an organic feel. I was unable to get a completely accurate representation with a photo. The colors of this piece are slightly less vibrant, more like denim in color. I will add additional photos in the comments area below the posting, or feel free to email me for more photos at joypesaturo@gmail.com

Joy Pesaturo, Artist As a child growing up in the San Juan Islands of Washington State, I was always drawn to the beautiful colors that surrounded me. Brilliant blue skies and water, green grass and trees, bright yellow dandelions, orange salmonberries, and the brilliant flowers that my mother grew in our garden. I would have happily spent all my time coloring and drawing. Later in High School I was fortunate to receive my first formal training in art. Painting quickly became my forte. I placed in a few local and state competitions and the thoughts of a career in Art were brought to my attention for the first time. Sadly, my mother was very ill with cancer, and passed away in December of my senior year. Art School dreams seemed frivolous at the time, and I opted for the more sensible Cosmetology School. Cosmetology has served me well and I feel that without its creative outlet, I would have been stunted. After years without a paint brush or palette, my husband encouraged me to try again. He claims not to regret it but being married to an artist is a sacrifice to say the least! A large portion of our home goes to my studio (not the wood shop that he dreamed of) and there are dozens of paintings leaning against walls everywhere. Not to mention that much of the time that I should be doing laundry or cleaning up after our 3 awesome kids, I am in the studio painting. I am currently blessed to be working as an active artist. I have chosen to sell my works via the online galleries, VANGO and SAATCHI. This has been a great venue for my art being that I live in a rural area of our beautiful country. My art has been purchased for private collections all over the US, Canada, and Puerto Rico. I am also currently teaching art to elementary students as an Art Specialist in Anacortes, WA. I LOVE creating new and interesting lessons for my students and teaching them about the art of lesser known artists both current and past.
