This was painted plein-air in Yaddo Gardens this past June. Yaddo Gardens was built by the Trask family, it is right off the NY State Thruway, I think exit 14 in Saratoga Springs. Beautifully maintained, and wonderfully rich, diverse gardens. I was teaching a workshop there in Saratoga, and afterwards I stayed on to paint in the gardens with my friend. Yes, that is a sculpture in the garden on the lower left hand side. It was early June, and the gardens had a early spring glow. I'm a gardener myself, and was inspired by this rich, diverse, historic garden.
