Light, color and a love of the beauty in nature are the driving forces behind my work. I begin a piece by taking a long time looking. Finding the objects and their relationship that visually interest me. I physically start a work of art by splashing the surface with a mixture of turpentine and color. Then I find my way around the surface with a brush quickly making marks defining space, looking for pure color first and then blocking in shapes. I am interested in brushwork, creating illusion and how we perceive color. When painting from life I experience the joy of being present.
