Ready to Hang
Painted plein-air in the late summer 2015 during early morning. The distant clouds hung low over the outerbanks catching the first rays. The golden hues of the marshes accentuate this time of year. Three seagulls sit atop abandoned pilings This is a summer favorite of mine because of the delicate brushwork juxtaposed to the big colorful swipes in the skies. Back in art school I had a thing for Tiepolo paintings and it shows here in this one. I wish this painting could show my big dog laying at my feet as I stand there in the marshes painting this.
