This piece was created plein-air in the marshes of Assateague, MD. This is the place where the horses roam free. Near the ocean, there is tons of reflected light, which means COLOR. I love color. This was painted in the morning facing east - facing the Atlantic Ocean. The pink sky is the mist over the water. These tidal pools quickly shape shift, and there is a smell of sulfur in the air and piping plover and egrets all around while I paint.
This is set back in a natural wood floater frame, this is why there is a little shadow along the top and side.
