My ideas come from everyday things that I see. I'm a big fan of photography and composition, so it's really important that my work has strong compositional elements as well as a photographic quality. I'm always impressed at the capability of the human hand, so photo-realism is the way I challenge myself. My biggest goal is to trick the viewer into thinking they're looking at a photograph.
I do commissioned pieces quite often, but nothing makes me happier than seeking out my own inspiration through my photography, focusing on color, light, reflections, glass, portraits, and other challenging subjects.
This piece is from a photograph of my daughter when she was about 4 years old. After having seen the bubble show in New York City, she was gifted this bubble wand by the performer, and bubbles have been a love of hers ever since. It was started in 2013 and finished in 2016, after many revisits.
Artist / High School Teacher in Tucson, Arizona. Objects that take on the colors of their surroundings are my favorite subjects: cars, chrome, glass, water and metals are some of my favorite materials to reproduce, but I also draw people, pets etc. on commission, Details, precision, and hyper-realism are my specialty. I work mostly in colored pencil, but I also love working in oil paint, graphite, pen, charcoal, white charcoal, soft and oil pastels. If you work really hard at it you might convince me to do watercolor and pen...(but you have to ask very nicely for watercolor)
