Another painting inspired by desert materiality. When it rains in the desert, it pours. Water glides over rocks and forms huge puddles, mixing with minerals.

My name is Jessica Rae Ecker. I attended Pratt Institute, where I received my MFA in Studio Art. I was born in Arizona, and have spent many years living and visiting the state. As a young child, I hiked in the Superstition Mountains. The meditative process of walking and the smells, sounds, and images of the desert greatly impacted me in my youth and still continue to influence my personal transcendence and my work. Architecture also speaks to me, mainly because it defines space and either interacts with or negates landscape.
