this piece was one of my longest ones that I have painted using oils. It had taken me about 5 weeks to do with all the mess ups along the way. This is the first monk painting I have done. It will not be my last. The reason I chose Day of Festivities was because when I think of Japanese monks I am remind of all the festivals that take place at the shrines and around towns.

My name is Jessica Hurteau, I am a local Southern California artist going to Fullerton community collage for Art and Business. I have been drawing for most of my life and have been getting more into painting with oils and acrylics the past 4-5 years starting back I in high school. A lot of my work my friends and family end up taking from me for their homes or for their friends. I am always trying out different techniques and styles for my pieces. i am always up to the challenge of creating different kinds of pieces.
