This piece is inspired by a single morning glory in bloom.
All works are original by me and will not be reproduced. I do hope you enjoy them as much as I've enjoyed painting them for you.
Thank you again for browsing my work.
My name is Jerry Douglas. I am a Vango artist but also a family physician. After being inspired by my 92 year old friend and folk artist, Leah, I started my love of painting. I have had several teachers though am not formally trained. My most recent teacher has been LeeAnn Brooks, a popular artist from Nevada City, California. I paint in various styles from representational to abstract to color field. My goal is to invite curiosity and evoke an emotional experience. With representational work I usually start with a photo and refine it until I'm happy with the composition. With abstracts I invite curiosity, and with color field invite emotion. Some of my works have several twists and turns that can be seen by the layering of colors and texture. The painting underneath (the underpainting) brings complexity and nuance to the final piece. Thank you for visiting my portfolio. I hope you enjoy my work. May you be happy and well.
