My art, initially abstract in appearance, records a journey of a day in
the life—a practice that starts with documentation through the lens of a camera. My eyes act as a view nder narrowing down the panoramic into single frames. Compiled snapshots represent blocks of time during my process of seeing and recording aesthetic signi cance in ordinary routine. I see curious formal elements in common things waiting to be manipulated and transformed into abstract compositions.
I collage together the single framed images, simplify and render them in paint to create the lines, shapes, and hues that ll the canvas. Abstracted layers build shallow spaces that depict my translation of the everyday. My work shows my analysis of time and space interpreted by looking through a lens at my immediate environment.

My paintings are inspired by my environment. Each element in my compositions stem from something I have seen during my everyday life. I believe daily routine can yield fascinating visual sights. I describe my work as representational abstractions that combine urban structure with peeks of organic moments. I see light and color as a means to both emphasize and unify parts of my compositions. I grew up in central Pennsylvania and attended Millersville University. I received a BFA and BS in Art Education in 2005. I taught public school for six years in southern Maryland and in the midst of that completed my graduate program at Savannah College of Art and Design. I received my MFA in painting in 2012. I moved to Chicago in 2013 where I work as a graphic designer and continue my practice as an abstract painter.
