Ready to Hang
"The Turkey On The Hill" is part of the Owl and The Pussycat Suite of 4 paintings, inspired by Edward Lear's 1841 poem. In this poem, the Turkey marries the Owl and the Pussycat. I knew I didn't want to paint a member of the clergy, so I decided upon a judge, and Judge Judy served as inspiration. Of course, it ended up being a male turkey wearing her robes, but you can make your own interpretation of that. With painted black sides, ready to hang, this painting would be perfect in an office or living room. Textured impasto paint and subtle glazed passages make this a statement piece.
One of my earliest memories is coloring on the floor with purple crayons, and not long afterwards, I switched to paint and never looked back.
