I am drawn toward work with mostly soft pastels because their quality is so ephemeral and delicate, like that of the human condition.

a couple. a coupling. what exactly is the purpose of pairing up with another human being? I would purport that the reason is different for all. Yet, as everything else in our existence, it is wrought with longing, excitement, fear, comfort, and loathing. Speaking from a female perspective this image is meant to show the extremity of emotion experienced from a feminine point of view, given the expectations put upon us from the outside world and by our own selves, as well as the contrast between fulfilling our role of submission and the power of our dissatisfaction in the dynamics of the male/female relationship.
