Every broken heart could tell the story on this stretched canvas. I painted the base layer thinking about the Big Bang Theory imagining the center being both the origin and the driving force of everything in the universe. Once I placed the metal, wire and plastic heart on top of the center, the whole concept began to take shape. Every single piece of found metal, plastic, wire, chain, bulb, wrench, glass, button, wooden tee & spring or coil on the canvas is being blown away from the "broken heart."
Frances Jemini grew up watching her graphic-artist mother create art out of paper, cardboard, fabric, oil paints - you name it - and has thus tended towards artistic interests her whole life. It led her to study architecture at Virginia Tech, which is where she began creating acrylics and mixed-media artwork. Her style has been described as expressionist abstract centering mainly on the use of bold colors and deep textures and reflects her strong architectural background. Currently residing in Athens, Georgia Frances has also been greatly influenced by the local artist scene and enjoys incorporating avant-garde materials into her work. Her multimedia designs and artwork consist of found materials including cardboard, sheet vinyl, plastic, old credit cards, string and junkyard metal.
