This piece was inspired by my years of living in Hawaii where I loved to watch the 5th generation tiki carvers turn a plain piece of wood into a work of art.
I tried to capture the energy they put into their craft while also adding a more animated and urban twist to it.
Created using acrylics and lines inspired by the feeling of Aloha. The lines radiating out of the tiki are painted with an iridescent acrylic mix to emphasize the bold energy and to make it pop off the background.
I hope this brings a little piece of paradise to your home.
This is on stretched canvas, attached to wooden frame.
Born in Tampa Bay, this Florida native moved to North Carolina, New England and Hawaii absorbing inspiration as he went. Having created art since he could hold a crayon, Jeff has won awards and art contests starting with a banner contest in middle school. He illustrated and had his first shirt printed in high school and has been hooked on illustrating, printing and painting ever since. With a well rounded background in silkscreen, sublimation, wide format and offset printing he attended college in St. Petersburg and transferred to SNHU. Starting with working for one of the largest silkscreen companies in the US and then went onto designing for one of the largest distributors of wine and liquor in New England. Shortly thereafter Jeff went freelance and hasn't looked back since. A passion for artwork is an understatement! He's created thousands of shirts, flyers, and banners to vehicle wraps, billboards and more. Illustrating, designing and painting is a form of breathing to him.
