Ready to Hang
There was a lot of "stop & go" as I worked on this piece, which translated into a lot of "push & pull" in the finished product, bringing to mind the dynamics of traffic. I created this piece using a dragging technique which allows the paint to "catch" on the higher points of the surface, yet allowing the underlayers to show through. I recently started experimenting with plaster which allowed me to create multiple layers of textured high and low points.
I've always had a knack for color and design. After decades applying my eye and skills to making interiors warm and inviting - with pops of unexpected color and sometimes whimsy - I'm now working with color in a much more personal way through my paintings. I work mainly with acrylics, but I also blend different mediums, materials and even found objects to create texture, depth, and interest. Since moving to San Diego in 2012, I've been inspired and have been able to dedicate more time to what once a fantasy, then a hobby, and now my passion. My pieces are unique and develop from my own appreciation for how colors play with and against each other. They are also influenced by my moods - so you may find some that inspire energy, others that are serene and calm, and others that are more carefree and fun. Hopefully you will find one that speaks to you and will find a spot in your space..
