This painting was all about the gray of the pitcher against the rich colors of the onions and flower. The all-fabric background provides a nice contrast to the hardness of the pewter.
Growing up on the east coast, artist Jason Walcott has always been creative ever since being a small child. With encouragement from his grandmother, Walcott began a life long love affair with painting and drawing. After graduating from Kean University with a BFA in Illustration, he relocated to southern California where he pursued a career in graphic design and eventually became a well known and successful typeface (font) designer. Through it all remained his love of fine art and his first passion, which was painting. Walcott has won several awards for his work and has paintings in multiple collections across the country. “For me,” Walcott says, “there is no greater happiness than the act of creating. I’ve come to realize over time, that the end product, the painting, is just a fringe benefit. The true lasting joy lies in the process--in the journey.”
