Ready to Hang

One of my favorite times of the year is the summer night. Imaging standing somewhere out in the quiet open country with, perhaps, a grove of trees to catch the magic of the moon and stars while the crickets sing to you.

This painting is framed in a satin finish walnut wood float frame that measures
11 x 11 x 2 inches outside dimensions.

Acrylic paint, mixed mediums and collaged objects, are the primary materials I employ in constructing these abstract, landscape based explorations. My paintings perch at the intersection of recognizable imagery and the abstract, giving voice to the spiritual and temporal confluence of the world we inhabit. Among my several series of work, you will find paintings inspired by satellite imagery, space telescopes, geologic exploration, music and the almighty leaf and seed. Because I love color so much, I endeavor to give it a luminous quality that will draw one’s eye to the canvas and move it effortlessly in compositional formation, unfolding a unique vision of landscape. Each painting contains many layers of acrylic color glazes that give an apparent depth to the surface; Textural elements are incorporated through the addition of materials and objects I often find in the street, and by subtraction of surface using scratching, scraping and writing. Look at a distance and look up close; there is much to be seen and experienced at both levels. Thank you for visiting my profile!
