Ready to Hang
This piece explores texture and contrast through an elegant tree depiction. I created the rustic background by collaging thin paper and adhesives to create texture. A variety of warm hues in the trunk and branches add dimension and movement, leading the viewer's eye up to the sculptural flowers impasto painted with a palette knife.
No need to frame! The color wraps around the edges of the gallery-style canvas and hanging hardware is already in place.
Born in Raleigh, North Carolina, Jamie Lynn continues to live and work in the area. She earned her B.A. in Fine Arts and Education from Meredith College, and later completed her graduate studies at East Carolina University earning her M.A.Ed in Art Education. She has taught art for 15-years and currently teaches high school in Wake Forest, NC. Her work evolves with time, however there are certain constants: color, organic forms and unity always dominate in her work. She prefers acrylic paint due to the versatile nature of the media and the ability to accomplish a range of effects with different techniques. She enjoys traveling and draws a lot of inspiration from places she visits and artists she encounters. When she's not painting or teaching, she is spending time with her husband and one-year old son.
