Ready to Hang
This painting represents growing toward a higher goal. The symmetrical focal point is surrounded by snaking tendrils that extend to fill the space around it, reaching for the goal symbolized by the compass-like element in the top right corner. I used a variety of warm colors with splashes of blues and turquoises with layered texture in the background to create a harmonious composition.
Born in Raleigh, North Carolina, Jamie Lynn continues to live and work in the area. She has taught art for 15-years and currently teaches high school in Wake Forest, NC. Her work evolves with time, however there are certain constants: color, organic forms and unity always dominate in her work. She prefers acrylic paint due to the versatile nature of the media and the ability to accomplish a range of effects with different techniques. She enjoys traveling and draws a lot of inspiration from places she visits and artists she encounters. When she's not painting or teaching, she is spending time with her husband and one-year old son.
