Ready to Hang
This painting is a sister piece piece to "Oasis I" and also has a soft background of subtle grays, overlapped by a rich horizontal band of layered brush stokes and impasto application of crackle paste. Inspired by Claude Monet's "WaterLlillies" series, I repeated colors for harmony and balance. This painting creates a relaxing mood with just the right amount of energy.
No need to frame! The color wraps around the edges of the back-stapled canvas and hanging hardware is already in place.
Born in Raleigh, North Carolina, Jamie Lynn continues to live and work in the area. She earned her B.A. in Fine Arts and Education from Meredith College, and later completed her graduate studies at East Carolina University earning her M.A.Ed in Art Education. She has taught art for 15-years and currently teaches high school in Wake Forest, NC. Her work evolves with time, however there are certain constants: color, organic forms and unity always dominate in her work. She prefers acrylic paint due to the versatile nature of the media and the ability to accomplish a range of effects with different techniques. She enjoys traveling and draws a lot of inspiration from places she visits and artists she encounters. When she's not painting or teaching, she is spending time with her husband and one-year old son.
