This painting shows a firey horizon made from bold reds and golden yellows. Subtle sprays of color explode below the landscape and disappear below. A resist technique of applying acrylic washes followed by quick sprays of rubbing alcohol created a variety of textures, which contrasts with the smoother sunny yellow above and soft yellow below. A band of blazing red clouds hover above as golden yellow drips begin to emerge and reach toward the land.
Born in Raleigh, North Carolina, Jamie Lynn continues to live and work in the area. She earned her B.A. in Fine Arts and Education from Meredith College, and later completed her graduate studies at East Carolina University earning her M.A.Ed in Art Education. She has taught art for 15-years and currently teaches high school in Wake Forest, NC. Her work evolves with time, however there are certain constants: color, organic forms and unity always dominate in her work. She prefers acrylic paint due to the versatile nature of the media and the ability to accomplish a range of effects with different techniques. She enjoys traveling and draws a lot of inspiration from places she visits and artists she encounters. When she's not painting or teaching, she is spending time with her husband and one-year old son.
