This painting depicts a flock of white birds in meandering above a dense cloud-like formation. The clouds, which also mimic the appearance of a landscape, were created through textural applications of paint and crackle paste. The lower layer of colors bleeds and drips, extending subtle color into the lower half of the canvas.Ironically, drips of white extend up, reaching toward the sky as the birds quickly migrate away.
Born in Raleigh, North Carolina, Jamie Lynn continues to live and work in the area. She earned her B.A. in Fine Arts and Education from Meredith College, and later completed her graduate studies at East Carolina University earning her M.A.Ed in Art Education. She has taught art for 15-years and currently teaches high school in Wake Forest, NC. Her work evolves with time, however there are certain constants: color, organic forms and unity always dominate in her work. She prefers acrylic paint due to the versatile nature of the media and the ability to accomplish a range of effects with different techniques. She enjoys traveling and draws a lot of inspiration from places she visits and artists she encounters. When she's not painting or teaching, she is spending time with her husband and one-year old son.
