I like to create pieces that are both bold in texture and rich in color, although you will occasionally find a monochromatic piece in my portfolio. I enjoy experimenting with different tools and materials to obtain unique textures.
I began painting April 20, 2015 after getting inspired by a retired friend of mine who is a successful artist living in Camdenton Missouri. I began doing strictly abstract work but was encouraged by my wife to try some more realistic pieces. I find that so far, my favorites are the more "impressionist" works. At first I just made paintings for our home and then I began giving some as gifts to friends and relatives. I make all of the frames myself, most of which are made from hardwoods and some are exotic such as Ambrosia Maple or Purple Heart. I also like to do large, multi panel paintings which I leave unframed. I am selling my work now because I love creating new pieces. There are still many things I wish to try, different styles and techniques. I love learning new things and I love the ability to express myself that comes with painting.
