The animals in my series, comprise species that would have been hunted and eaten (such as deer, bison and elk). The Buffalo is a symbol of sacred life, abundance, power and strength. Many of my paintings of animals are reminiscent of the Palaeolithic cave paintings of Lascaux France and aim to create and evoke the mythic quality within the animal and remind us of early human capacity, to interpret and give meaning to their surroundings. Subjects are often represented in profile and standing in an alert and energetic stance. Paintings these animals, is a way to tap into a primitive awareness of our history as hunters and primal ancestry.

Born outside New York City, I spent much of my youth, drawing and painting. The colors, tastes and textures of Manhattan’s diverse neighborhoods offered early inspiration. I studied at Parsons, Art Students League and the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan and completed my Bachelors of Fine Art at the Boston Museum School of Fine Arts and Tufts University. I then moved West to pursue a Masters of Fine Art degree, at San Francisco State University. I have exhibited in galleries across the United States including the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art Artists Gallery and Art Expo New York.
