All I can say about my artistic process is that I paint what I feel and what moves me. Whether those feelings are positive and upbeat or desolate and isolating, they are true. My form, technique and composition may need more formal work and training, but my passion is genuine.
I draw inspiration form nature, literature, and music. Sometimes I try to convey a feeling through an image, other times I am inspired by music to paint a scene that has formed in my imagination. Books allow me to construct images in my head, eve if the test is not describing a specific scene or location. Sometimes it is just a phrase. For instance there is a phrase in the book "The Case of Charles Dexter Ward" by H.P. Lovecraft that reads, "Memory sometimes makes merciful deletions." This phrase resonated with me and inspires me.
Although I have always been drawn to artistic fields, theatre, painting, literature, my career pursuits have been singularly within the filed s of science, nursing, nuclear medicine technology, and IT. I have tried to find ways to pursue my artistic passions, but until recently, I have not had the courage to show anyone, let alone put them on a website. Fortunately, Vango has allowed me to do that. I am a new artist and self taught. I know I have more to learn and then more after that. But I am so excited and ready for the challenge.
