It's a bit of a cliche, but springtime is so exciting to me—everything popping up from under the snow, browns turning to greens seemingly overnight. Now more than ever, I'm grateful for the moments I get to spend in the sunshine. I saw a little zinnia peeping its head up early despite the cold, and was inspired by its cheerfulness. I stopped and spent a moment with it to remind me that brighter days were, in fact, coming, and then I came back inside and played with its colors in the comfort of climate control.
Born and raised in St. Louis, Kate Moore now finds herself based in lovely Des Moines, Iowa. After receiving two BFAs from Truman State University, where she studied graphic design and studio art, she made her way north through a series of diverse jobs: illustrator for a T-shirt shop, full-time stationery and print artist, designer for an award-winning trio of city magazines, puppy wrangler (OK, that one was unpaid, but definitely worthwhile). Kate's passions in life are art, '90s pop culture, animals, and food, in no particular order. When not working at her full-time job (where she designs layouts around food), she's usually found scribbling, painting, or digging in the backyard with her rescue dog. Her paintings are inspired by things she comes across in her daily travels, from the everyday to the extraordinary and everything in between. Every piece represents a moment in the day with no demands, no stress, just a paintbrush and a blissfully empty page.
