Back in 2014 I spent one week in Viana, the Portuguese city in Minho where a great festivity takes place during the month of August. It's the "Romaria da Senhora da Agonia". When the feast happens almost all the girls of the city dress themselves in traditional outfits and walk in the main avenue. Old ladies and their grandaughters also walk along the streets. My husband took a photo of these two which I found amazing. And I also shot a lot of photos there. Then back at home I wondered if I could not carry away an exhition in Viana on these matters. And that really took place next year .
My story is a bit long as I'm also a far away human born in 1947. My birthplace is Porto, Portugal where I grew up and studied until I entered the University in LIsbon. accordibg to me I should have entered the School of Art in Porto, but that was not my destin- I had to choose another career- Germanistic Philology, to be able to turn out to be a teacher of English. Again according to me and after having done the will to my family I learned how to paint with the help of two masters, and above all my own will. So for thirty five years I used to have my day always busy with the school in the morning and painting in the afternoon. Until my retirement came 8 years ago. And now I spend my time only with this art. Painting in oils, sometimes in watercolours, never with acrylics- I am not a fan of this medium for several reasons. Explain why in the next item. Started to paint in 1979, made my first exhibition in 1987 and today I count with 22 solo exhibitions and several colective ones too. Wish you all the best and hope you like my artwork as much as I do.
