My inspiration for this piece was small sailboats in Galveston, Texas where I live on the beach. I enjoy the serenity of the water, the seagulls and the small boats. Two pieces were created in "clip art" to go into a beach home, perhaps a bedroom or bathroom. I am currently 76 years old and just enjoying life. Be sure to see the companion piece "Sunset Sail" in the color coral.
A Chemical Engineer by formal education and an artist by choice, Howard discovered late in life that he had a passion and a talent for painting. He is self-taught and has had amazing success with selling his works in Texas galleries. His works are currently on continuous display at Affaire d' Art Gallery in Galveston, TX. Howard believes that his unique style and variety of techniques stem from the fact that he has not had formal art training, leaving him free from the constraints of the commonly-accepted "rules" of art. His paintings are very eclectic, frequently containing heavy texture, bold colors and metallic affects. He often incorporates pieces of recycled plastics into his textures. His paintings range from large decorator abstracts to landscapes to figures. Howard says "I do not paint for profit. Rather, my goal is to supply good-quality paintings at a modest price to anyone who can appreciate the pride of having an original work in their home".
