Acrylic, gold gouache and collage on found piece of compressed wood. Titled "Monstrita" (little monster, in Spanish), this is an imagined portrait of a late 1980s cabaret dancer who lives in the hills of Nogales, Sonora Mexico. Collage comes from various Mexican "novelitas." An ode of sorts to growing up in Nogales and reading those violent, seedy comic books.
Hi! I'm a visual designer making art on the side as a counterpoint. Originally from the border—Ambos Nogales, La Frontera—I reside in Redwood City, CA with my beautiful family. I also love to play guitar of the noisy and sometimes heavy variety. Please check out my portfolio, buy my stuff and send me notes.
