"Velvet Dusk" a pretty little gem, that has the New Year spirit, bringing the artist hope for what may lie ahead.

Grace primarily paints outdoors or en plein air on small panels that capture a rare and appealing quality. Painting all at once in the alla prima style, working wet paint into wet paint. Like a surveyor she applies the paint to determines the terrestrial positions of points, distance, and angles between them, so that the scale and proportions are correct. These are not haphazard marks. It’s her personal map. Simultaneously she is thinking about value and color working with a limited palette of four to five colors. She uses bold gestures so that the paint sits high off the canvas like icing on a cake. Through this application more light reflect off paint at different angles turning each brushstroke into something special, demanding our attention to the beauty in the pigments. Once, she has captured enough information she packs up her en plein air easel and heads to her studio, where she will sometimes paint the image on a larger format, although the little paintings are most dear for their exclusive characters.

Before becoming a full-time artist Grace grew up in rural Pennsylvania, U.S.A. Her academic training in the arts academic began at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania and SACI College of Art & Design Florence, Italy. A few years after college Grace owned and managed a sign shop that provided hand-painted signs, lettering, gold-leafing and pinstriping in south eastern Virginia. In 2016 she and her husband moved to Europe to follow a lifelong dream to travel and find adventure. During the first year and half in Europe she made it her sole purpose to study and concentrate on painting only. During this period her works were starting to have some impressive breakthroughs. At this point her love affair with oil painting enkindled and she knew it was destined.
