"Contemplation" is my latest painting from my series of "Being Present". In this series I'm interested in capturing the essence of what I'm feeling and experiencing in that specific moment in my life. The challenge of this body of work is that I never know what I'm going to create when I first walk into the studio, then as I start journaling what's on my mind, how i'm feeling and what's my mood the painting begins to reveal itself. You can never capture the feeling or essence of "present" later in life. It can only be in the "now." Contemplation was a day that I had many things running through my mind and knew I had decisions to be made. I almost didn't paint this day because I felt I had more pressing things to take care of. Then It hit me that this would be my best way of processing by "leaning into" my feelings of being overwhelmed. It's completely about controlled chaos. After painting this piece, I was in a much better place.
I live in ultra-vibrant Nashville, Tennessee, named the "IT City" by New York Times and Conde Nast. I hold a BSBA from Aquinas College and work in the world of Community-Based Organizations (CBO's) with a focus of creating collective impact that will improve public education and children's health by day....after that I escape into my world of art which becomes my refuge and ultimate space for feeding and nurturing my own soul.
