This Watermelon Painting is part of my first series about the decomposition in fruits and vegetables. It was my first time working in gessobord and although the surface was challenging the final result was worth it. I remember buying the watermelon and putting outside the dorms to rotten for a couple of days. After rotten I organize it a table and took more than 30 pictures. The different pinks and purples where really interesting to paint and to discover.
My name is Giasiris, but everyone calls me Gia. I am a Vango artist. I was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico. I became an elementary art teacher after graduating in 2008 with a Bachelor Degree in Art Education. After 5 years as a teacher, I start exploring more my love for art making. I decided to do a master’s degree in Painting at the Academy of Art University. On the last year of my degree, I moved to San Francisco. This was 5 years ago. I finish my master and now, while I do my art I work in a little island call Alcatraz in the middle of the bay. Thank you for visiting my portfolio.
