Different motives inevitably require different modes of expression
I paint from inspiring references in the entertainments world and sometimes my own life-
reflecting my living, what I am concerned with at the moment, the thoughts and feelings I conjure up from the pell-mell. Film and music are unavoidable influences on our real lives.
My artistic career began in mid-eighties London where I made my living as a professional portrait artist, whilst taking life-drawing classes at St. Martins School of Art Despite tempting offers such as working as a fashion designer on London’s King’s Road or an exhibition in a New York gallery I kept to my path. I simply loved drawing and painting people, and I wasn’t ready for New York. Fate had me destined for Europe, namely Bavaria. It was here that I had my first solo exhibitions and developed my career as an artist for real. Later I moved over here east of Berlin and since 1994 have enjoyed watching the former GDR’s dynamic changing landscapes as it transformed into a new economy. These changes inspire me and are reflected in my own mercurial, diversified art.
