Ready to Hang
It all started in 2008, when I was commissioned to paint a "Guardian Angel" oil painting for a customer as a wedding gift. I was inspired by the thought of angels taking on our troubles, and protecting us. This has evolved into a series of Guardian Angel paintings I started in 2009 and have done over the years. "Blue Sunday" is one from the series. It is an oil painting on canvas, and will ship with a beautiful 3" frame (mostly for protection), and is ready to hang. The oil painting itself measures 16" x 20".
After attending art schools on both coasts - at Pratt Institute in NYC and Art Center College of Design in California - I decided to return to the Black Hills of South Dakota to set up my art studio. I love painting in oils, and sometimes incorporate mixed mediums. I am focused on figurative works primarily, but have started doing plein-air paintings in outdoor urban and hillside settings. Most of my figurative work is from live model sessions that I arrange with a model or willing friend. I have on occasion worked from photographs I have taken of a setting outside of the studio and am comfortable working long-distance with models and/or commissions. Thank you for taking a few moments to view my portfolio.
