Ready to Hang
Initially started as an experiment in indirect painting, this painting came to represent my feelings about the sitter, a friend of mine who was very involved with her own daydreaming. She was posing for me but she looked a little lost, like she was perennially a bit disconnected from her surroundings. The painting has a kind of rainbow band of color that flows over and under things, shrouding her face and tinting her clothes, in a way that I wanted to relate to images I see everywhere with oversaturated color, to past acid trips, and to the feeling of being settled into your disconnection with reality.
