A painting I created based off my experiences viewing the Virgen del Rosario celebration in Rota, Spain. The whole town gathered outside the church and watched as a procession of men and women in traditional clothing walked from the church to the town plaza, followed closely by a large group of men carrying a massive silver sculpture of the Virgin Mary.
Pictured in the painting is one of the town officials inspecting the base of the sculpture. I was inspired by his moment of solitary focus in the midst of the festivities.
